THE European Commission's recently published 'Fight Against Fraud' report has admitted that fraudulent use of European Union funds is costing European taxpayers £3.3 million a day.


 The worst cases were found in the implementation of the EU's cohesion policy which cost taxpayers £1.2billion in the last year.
The European Union's Cohesion Policy provides funding for Europe’s poorest regions and this takes up more than one third of the whole EU budget. So it's very depressing for those contributing that two-thirds of alleged EU fraud concerns six countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Italy, Poland and Spain.
In one case, thousands of pounds was paid out to livestock owners in Slovenia for 'non-existent' cattle while claims were also made for a lemon and orange grove orchard that had never been planted on the Italian island of Sicily.
With such bad publicity arising from similar fraud stories it is not surprising that the European Union has increased the money it is spending on transforming its news broadcasting service Euronews.
It claims the service will "improve the daily life of EU citizens" but sceptics dismiss the ploy as just the EU pushing out propaganda trying to achieve favourable news coverage using taxpayers' money.

At least £32.5 million out of last year’s “foreign aid” budget was spent on taxis, newspapers, staff bonuses and offices by the Department for International Development (DFID), new figures released by that office have revealed.

The DFID’s budget is the only one which will be increased by 37 percent over the next four years, as all other services to British people will be cut by 20 percent or more.

The 37 percent increase in foreign aid will add at least £4 billion to the DFID’s budget, at a cost of £500 per household in Britain.

According to a report, the DFID last year spent more £255,000 on taxi fares alone — in Britain. This spend has tripled in recent years, as staff somehow found the need to travel everywhere by taxi at the taxpayers’ expense.

The department has spent £19 million on “external private sector consultants” during the last year. Taxpayers will be glad to hear that this figure is down slightly from the previous two years, when the DFID “only” spent some £46 million on such “consultants.”

The newly released figures also show that since 2002, the DfID has spent £29 million on office refurbishments, including £11 million on its head office in London.

Incredibly, £98,000 was spent last year to redesign a new logo for UKaid in an attempt to copy the American version of USAid. Exacly why it took nearly £100,000 to redesign a logo was not said.

Taxpayers will be equally pleased to hear that DFID staff used £52,000 worth of stationery last year, and read £90,000 worth of newspapers.

Over the last six years, stationery and newspaper costs for the department have totalled £664,000.

DFID staff are some of the best paid civil servants around.And the official figures released by the department also reveal the favourable terms and conditions DfID staff enjoy.

With jobs currently being advertised on the DFID website such as “Governance Adviser - India,” “Governance Adviser (Public Financial Management Specialist) - India,” and “Global Poverty Action Fund Advisory Board members,” all of which conspicuously have the salary details absent, it is no surprise to learn that the cost of performance-related pay has more than doubled from £4.1 million to £10 million over the last six years.

It seems that the DFID is a rewarding career, as some 19 members of staff were handed bonuses of more than £30,000 last year, just for doing their jobs.

As if that was not enough, DFID workers clailmed expenses of more than £713,000 last year.

Side benefits to working for the DFID are also, to say the least, good.

Education allowances for staff children are so generous that last year 48 members of staff received a total of £1.3 million in private school fees, including leading independent schools Winchester, Marlborough, Roedean and Fettes College.

The foreign aid scandal must come to an end. The British National Party was the first party to call for its abolition, and the latest figures underline the urgency of cutting this outrageous waste even more.

British National Party chairman and Northwest MEP Nick Griffin cancelled all his appointments today to personally visit the scene of the massive gas explosion in Irlam, Salford, and to offer any assistance that they may need, reports organiser Gary Tumulty.

On seeing the devastation, Mr Griffin said “This is terrible. I have never seen anything like this in my life.

“My thoughts and best wishes are with those that have been hurt and those that have lost their homes and treasured possessions. It is a miracle that no-one was killed.”

Mr Griffin then went onto visit the emergency rest station, where those evacuated from the area were sent, and spoke to several residents about their experiences.

“I spoke to one lady whose house was seriously damaged by the blast. She told me of a father frantically digging in the rubble to rescue his children. She was in tears as she explained how the man dug with his bare hands to rescue his children from what remained of their home,” said Mr Griffin.

A local pub very close to the scene was also visited as it was also used as an emergency shelter for evacuees.

“We took some toys and board games to keep the children amused paid for by the community fund that MEPs are allocated. It is for good causes, and I can't think of a better cause than this one,” said Mr Griffin.

“Even in such difficult circumstances, and amid scenes of devastation, the 'British Spirit', and the 'never say die' attitude is what struck me in Irlam today,” Mr Griffin concluded.

Keith Fairhurst, deputy organiser added, I know Nick's visit to Irlam meant a lot to the residents today, He was there early, and didn't leave till late, unlike the other politicians whose absence was remarked upon by more than a few.

“It was interesting to hear that Labour's Hazel Blears made a late fleeting visit, no doubt because Mr Griffin had been there all day,” Mr Fairhurst said.

“Only Nick Griffin, and the British National Party truly care about our communities, and we will always be there when we are needed.”

Salford Labour apparatchiks moved in late last night to deny victims of the gas blast disaster any help provided by Nick Griffin MEP and the local British National Party organisation shortly after a hurried visit to the scene by Labour MP Hazel Blears, reports Radio Red, White and Blue.

Speaking on a breaking news report on the online radio station, Mr Griffin revealed how the ordinary staff and volunteers were ecstatic to receive all offers of help, and specifically asked for certain items.

By then it had become apparent that Ms Blears was nowhere to be seen, and after hurried Labour Party phone calls she finally arrived on the scene many hours after Mr Griffin got there.

Within half and hour of that, the staff and volunteers had been replaced by politically “reliable” Labour council staff, and suddenly the message was sent that no help at all was needed.

The victims of the gas blast, many still wearing slippers and nightgowns, were then suddenly transported away to a hotel for an overnight stay, far away from the help offered by the “evil” BNP.

Mr Griffin said on the Radio RWB interview that this was not such a bad thing as the move to a hotel would probably not have happened had the BNP not offered help in the first place.

Radio RWB coordinator John Walker, who conducted the interview, then remarked that it was sad that even at a time of such great misery, the Labour Party could not leave politics out of the situation.

 NOVEMBER 2010: The newly formed European External Action Service (European Union's own Foreign Office)  has ordered 150 bomb-proof limousines costing up to £33m for its new ambassadors - that's equivalent to £175,000 per car.


 The armoured vehicles will be deployed even every day business where there is little or no terrorist threat, as well as the European Union's missions to Afghanistan and Iraq.
It is is all part of the escalating costs of the EU foreign service with its 'Ambassador', Baroness Ashton, paid almost two and a half times more than the UK Foreign Secretary William Hague.
Th EU's diplomatic service is an expensive flag-waving exercise, drawing vital funds away from national budgets at a time when money is in short supply in Britain and across Europe.
The EEAS's annual budget is £5.8 billion - more than twice that of the UK's own Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The local community centre has also been offered the use of BNP-supporting caterer to supply meals if it is needed.

The chairman of the British National Party, Nick Griffin MEP, has urged patriots to attend the demonstration outside the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, central London on Monday 8th and/or Tuesday 9th November.

The environmental theory of human development — which holds that all humans are born blank slates and are shaped solely by their environments — has received a death blow with the news that scientists have discovered a genetic link to liberalism.

The announcement of the existence of a “liberal gene” which predisposes individuals to being liberal even in the face of the most incontrovertible evidence that their world view is wrong, was made in the reputable Cambridge University Press' Journal of Politics.

The lengthy study, based on research carried out on more than 2,000 test subjects (and which can be seen in full here), proves that genetics plays a substantial role in behaviour.

This means that people with certain genetic make-ups behave in a predetermined way, irrelevant of their place of birth.

The environmental “blank slate” world view has, from the time of the infamous Frankfurt School and the anthropological standard set by Karl Mannheim and Franz Boas at the beginning of the 20th Century, held that hereditary plays no part in predetermining human behaviour.

For decades, this leftist argument has been used to stifle any suggestion that individuals, both within and between racial groups, have different inherent abilities, intelligence levels or behavioural and psychological make-ups.

The advent of the science of genetics has however completely undermined this leftist delusion, and the discovery of a “liberal gene” must come as the most shocking of all developments to proponents of the now-disproven environmental theory.

According to the new study’s lead researcher, James H. Fowler of the University of California in San Diego, people with a variant of what is known as the “dopamine receptor gene” (called DRD4-7R) are more liberal in their political outlook than those people without it.

The gene, which has previously been associated with novelty-seeking behaviour, means that individuals carrying it are exposed “to a wider variety of social norms and lifestyles would make them more liberal than average,” his study paper said.

“Studies of animals indicate that DRD4 is involved in cortical excitability and behavioral sensitisation,” the paper said.

“These alterations in cortical arousal affect ‘‘approach traits’’ such as novelty seeking and sensation seeking, which in turn affect personality and behaviour.

“The relationship between openness to experience and ideology holds when ideology is measured either as support for ideological political parties or as ideological self-placement.”

The paper was extremely scientific and fair in its overview, stressing that it did not “claim that this evidence proves a causal relationship between DRD4 and political ideology. However, the association is consistent with a causal theory that we develop about the way genes and environments combine to affect political ideology.

“It is important to note that the 7R allele by itself does not make a person liberal and neither does simply having a greater number of friends as a teenager,” it stated.

“Rather, it is the crucial interaction of two factors—the genetic predisposition of having a greater number of 7R alleles and the environmental condition of having many friends in adolescence—that is associated with being more liberal.”

As a result, the study said, it can be concluded that “genetic effects take place in complex interaction with other genes and environments, and it is likely the combination of hundreds if not thousands of genes interacting with each other and with external stimuli that influence political attitudes and behaviour.

“In light of these and other findings, political scientists can no longer afford to view ideology as a strictly social construct, perfectly malleable and completely subject to historically changing circumstances.

“Finally, the results here suggest that, contrary to Mannheim’s assertion and the body of work that followed him, the social and institutional environment cannot entirely explain a person’s political attitudes and beliefs.

“We must take into account the role of genes and gene-environment interactions in the formation and maintenance of political beliefs,” the paper said in its conclusion.

David Cameron’s claim of a “victory” over the European Union’s increased budget spending plan is like King Pyrrhus of Epirus’s triumph over the Romans 2090 years ago: one more “victory” like that and we will be completely undone.

Mr Cameron has claimed “victory” after managing to persuade enough EU member states to reject an EU budget rise of 6 percent, and revert back to the 2.9 percent increase originally planned.

All that Mr Cameron has actually achieved therefore is to ensure that the EU budget increases by “only” 2.9 percent. In real terms this means an increase of “only” £3.14 billion as opposed to the £6.5 billion the EU Parliament voted for last week.

In addition, Mr Cameron failed to obtain any guarantee that there would no further increases, as he promised the British public only a week ago.

This sort of “triumph” is known as a Pyrrhic victory, a phrase derived from over 2000 years ago when the armies of King Pyrrhus of Epirus suffered irreplaceable casualties after defeating the Romans at Asculum in 279 BC.

After the battle, it is recorded, “Pyrrhus replied to one that gave him joy of his victory that one more such victory would utterly undo him.”

Instead of celebrating an utterly false “victory,” Mr Cameron should rather explain to the British public why they will now have to contribute around £8 billion next year towards the EU budget (which is what our contribution will now be after the “victorious” cut from 6 to 2.9 percent).

As the Telegraph columnist Simon Heffer so aptly put it in an article titled “David Cameron and the euro millions roll-over,” it is Mr Cameron’s “project to realign his party on the centre-Left, which means, in the end, he will always do what he is told by Brussels.

“There is absolutely no need for a 2.9 percent rise in our contributions to the EU. Europe is tottering financially,” Mr Heffer continued.

“The EU should be saving money, as most countries are, not finding ways to spend more of it.

“Dave was saying only a few days ago that he would seek a freeze or even a cut in our contribution. For him to roll over so quickly, and to agree to have the taxpayer’s pocket picked in this way, is predictable, but contemptible.

“What has happened in the past couple of days is an affirmation of business as usual: an exhibition of Britain’s devastating loss of sovereignty, and the continual willingness of those who should defend us to run up the white flag.

“It is no surprise to those of us who never believed Dave was a Conservative. Perhaps, though, it has helped open the eyes of those who foolishly thought he was,” Mr Heffer concluded.
