Gorten & Denton Result and Richard LoweRestore didn't stand, but the fate of Advance demolishes the Restore 2029 fantasyBy Nick GriffinThe Green’s Marxist/Islamist victory in the Manchester suburb does far more than hammer Keir Starmer. While the mainstream pundits are all concentrating on the scale of the disaster for Labour, with the ‘family voting’ of the Muslim block vote also attracting attention, the result is also devastating to Reform’s rivals. Immediately to Farage’s left, the Conservatives crashed to a mere 706 votes, just 1.9%. Compar it to the total for Reform’s Matt Goodwin, who got 10,578, and the scale of the wipe-out puts Kemi Badenoch in almost as much danger as Starmer. To Reform’s immediate right, Restore UK did not stand a candidate. In fact, it couldn’t do, because Rupert Lowe has not even registered the party yet (more on that subject another time). But Ben Habib’s Advance UK did stand, putting forward Nick Buckley MBE, a very good, local candidate, and runninmg a vigorous and well-funded campaign to back him up. He has a great track record of helping the homeless in Greater Manchester and campaigned hard on a daily basis. With 40,000 members, Advance no longer matches Restore’s 60,000 and rising, but it is still about five times bigger than the BNP was for most of our ten-year electoral challenge. Further the platforms and policies of Advance and Restore are virtually identical, with the two only kept from merging by ambition and temperament divisions between the two leaders. Hence, the fate of Advance UK in the by-election tells us a great deal about how Restore UK would have fared, and will fare in future contests, at least up until the pioint that Reform have been in office and failed (as they will). The answer is, disastrously. Despite spending thousands of pounds, Nick Buckley and Advance UK got just 154 votes, even fewer than the Monster Raving Loony Party. Please don’t make the excuse that it’s because Advance is led by a man with a Muslim name, because Reform’s second-in-command is a Muslim, and that didn’t stop 10,578 people voting forMatt Goodwin. The result therefore completely bears out what I said here on Substack, and what I said on Wednesday evening in a podcast in which I discussed the isssue in depth (see below). The idea that Restore UK is going to do anything in 2029 other than suffer electoral disaster is a ludicrous fantasy.
I followed up what everyone considered a very constructive piece with another article tinged with a little more impatience. You can find that in my posts (by thw way, many people don’t know that you can click on my Substack url to get instanty re-directed to a full Nick Griffin Substack website, which is much easier to navigate. The only good thing about the Gorten result is that it suggests that, even if Mr. Lowe does see fit to waste three years and blow £millions on a charge into electoral disaster in 2029, the votes his doomed effort will take - given the inevitable Labour/Green/Reofrm squeeze, will be so pathetically low that at least it will not go too far towards increasing our chances of getting a Labour/Green/Marxist?Islamist coalition government - as per my warning in the video. It would still, however, be an utterly disastrous diversion from the huge amount of good work that Mr. Lowe and his supporters could do. I still doubt if they will, because some of the people pushing him down the electoral road are doing so with the deliberate aim of running the British resistance out of time, and others are just irredeemably stupid. But, if the decent people look at last night’s result seriously, they will see that I am right. And then, just possibly, wiser heads may prevail.
