The Neo-Amish Movement: How To Preserve Tradition in a Technological World
The Neo-Amish Movement: How To Preserve Tradition in a Technological World
Our third child was born about five weeks ago and we felt it was time to get out of the house and do something fun with the kids before summer passed us by. So we got in the car and headed to Lancaster, PA or as many call it “Amish Country.” Growing up Lancaster was a spot we visited often as kids. I have great memories myself from those visits and wanted to give my kids those same memories this summer. It was also a refreshing and inspiring look at what is possible with a homogenous traditional Christian culture and society.
It’s certainly intriguing to explore alternative lifestyles that choose to limit or reject the adoption of new technologies. The Amish community, known for their simple and self-sustaining way of life, has long fascinated those like me who are seeking a deeper connection with tradition and nature. Many people wrongly believe that the Amish swore off “all technology,” but this couldn’t be further from the truth. The Amish certainly use technology. A wagon is technology. A plow is technology. We may consider these to be “outdated” tech, but they are still technology nonetheless.
These technologies are viewed as practical tools that enhance their self-sufficiency, yet they consciously draw the line at adopting more complex and potentially disruptive advancements. At some point in time a few hundred years ago the Amish decided that they weren’t going to adopt technology beyond its existing state. It’s admirable and honorable that they have been able to hold to this decision, cultural tradition and way of life. I think there’s a lot we can learn from them as we reach a point with technological “progress” now that is going to start eroding our very humanity.
Originating in Europe during the 16th century, the Amish trace their roots back to the Anabaptist movement. Seeking religious freedom and a simpler way of life, the Amish migrated to North America, with the first settlements established in Pennsylvania in the 18th century. Remarkably, the Amish community predates the formation of the United States by several decades, making it one of the oldest communities on the continent.
Contrary to the modern notion of an aging population or declining communities, the Amish are experiencing a remarkable surge in population. In fact the Amish are projected to take over the current US population in 215 years if their growth rate continues on pace. This growth can be attributed to a combination of factors, including a high birth rate, low attrition rates, and a deep sense of community. The Amish population doubles approximately every 20 years, highlighting their resilience and the appeal of their way of life to younger generations.
I often ponder the possibility of a Neo-Amish movement, where individuals embrace a deliberate halt in technological progress beyond a specific point, opting to resist certain advancements in the pursuit of a more balanced existence. This doesn’t mean we all become farmers and get rid of our cars and electricity, but rather that we place a firm line in the sand with technological advancement amidst the rise of the transhumanism agenda.
Drawing inspiration from the Amish way of life, the concept of a Neo-Amish movement emerges. This movement argues for a deliberate halt in technological progress beyond a specific point to ensure the preservation of core human values and prevent potential societal upheaval. The Neo-Amish movement encourages critical evaluation and resistance against technologies perceived as encroaching upon fundamental aspects of human experience, autonomy, and privacy.
Let me give you some examples.
Brain implants and other intrusive technologies that interfere with cognitive or physical functions raise valid ethical questions. Such interventions can undermine the essence of human identity and autonomy. They blur the boundaries between man and machine. By resisting these technologies, a Neo-Amish movement aims to safeguard the distinct human experience and ensure the preservation of individual freedom.
The rise of autonomous vehicles and the potential for them to be controlled entirely by software brings forth many concerns as well. Given the susceptibility of software to hacking and vulnerabilities, many people rightfully question the reliability and safety of autonomous systems. By choosing to opt out of technologies that compromise their security, Neo-Amish adherents can maintain a sense of agency and mitigate the risks associated with technology’s unchecked progress.
The recent emergence of mRNA vaccines has sparked global discussions about their effectiveness and long-term effects. Within the Neo-Amish movement, individuals may choose to resist these vaccines due to concerns about their rapid development and potential unknown consequences. This stance reflects a desire to tread cautiously when it comes to medical advancements, emphasizing the importance of thorough research, informed consent, and a commitment to natural healing methods. This approach is panning out very well for the Amish today with existing vaccines.
“The Amish are a perfect example of a large group of people who are largely unvaccinated,” testified Steve Kirsch to the Pennsylvania State Senate. “You won’t find kids with ADD, with autoimmune disease, with PANDAS, PANS, with epilepsy. You just don’t find any of these chronic diseases in the Amish. The US government has been studying the Amish for decades, but there’s never been a report out to the public. After decades of studying the Amish, there’s no report because the report would be devastating to the narrative. It would show that the CDC has been harming the public for decades and saying nothing and burying all the data.”
The Amish community’s story is one of remarkable perseverance, resilience, and unwavering commitment to their principles. As one of the oldest communities in North America, the Amish have not only withstood the test of time but continue to flourish in the modern era. Their rapid population growth and steadfast dedication to their way of life demonstrate that they are more than a historical relic; they are a living testament to the endurance of human values and community bonds.
The idea of a Neo-Amish movement invites contemplation on the role of technology in our lives and prompts us to question the potential consequences of unchecked progress. Many of us are already participating in this movement without even realizing it. While the Amish community provides a foundation for this movement, the Neo-Amish perspective urges us to carefully consider the technologies we adopt and their impact on our humanity, privacy, and autonomy. As society continues to evolve, the exploration of alternative paths, such as the Neo-Amish movement, encourages critical thinking and the pursuit of a balanced coexistence between tradition and progress.
As I’ve written about earlier this year our focus at Gab is on empowering people to speak freely and gain access to information about homesteading, homeschooling, and homemaking. In order to help with this goal we’ve partnered with our friends at Plain Values magazine to syndicate their content on Gab News. In 2012, the Miller family began the Plain Values monthly print magazine stemming from a simple discussion about how to share stories of mission and ministry work with their Amish community. It's a great high quality magazine and I recommend a subscription. We are using the technology we’ve built here at Gab to expand their mission even further and help our community learn about homesteading, homeschooling, and homemaking directly from the people who do it best in the process.
Similar to the Amish, at Gab we believe technology is tool that can be used to improve real life, not replace it. When technology transforms from a tool into a crutch for real life that’s a problem. We’re not trying to implant computer chips in your brain, get you in a self-driving car, or ship you on a rocket to Mars. We simply want you to speak freely and by doing so come to the realization that you can and will get out of the Matrix, not further into it.

USA Judge Issues Injunction To Protect Free Speech On Social Media Platforms
USA Judge Issues Injunction To Protect Free Speech On Social Media Platforms
While we were all enjoying the fireworks on the 4th of July a significant development that could have profound implications for the relationship between the government and social media platforms was unfolding in the courts. A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction restraining key agencies and officials of the Biden administration from engaging with tech companies in matters related to the suppression of protected speech. This ruling was initiated in response to a lawsuit brought forth by Republican attorneys general from Louisiana and Missouri and marks a pivotal moment in the fight for free speech.
This legal action was prompted by allegations that government officials had overstepped their boundaries by urging social media platforms to address posts that could incite vaccine hesitancy during the COVID-19 pandemic or influence elections.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic the battle for free speech intensified as governments and social media platforms grappled with the challenge of moderating content related to the origins of covid, the vaccine, masks, lockdowns, and other related information. While many platforms succumbed to the pressure to censor information at the behest of the government, one platform stood firm in its commitment to freedom of speech: Gab.
Gab became a haven for individuals, including many doctors and medical professionals, seeking an outlet to express their opinions without fear of censorship. As COVID-related discussions flooded the digital landscape, Gab emerged as a crucial platform where diverse perspectives could be shared, debated, and challenged openly.
During the pandemic various external entities, including government officials, the media, and advocacy groups, exerted immense pressure on social media platforms to censor COVID-related content. Gab steadfastly resisted such pressure, choosing instead to allow the free exchange of information and ideas to flourish. This unwavering commitment to free speech distinguished Gab from other platforms that succumbed to external influences, thus positioning itself as a beacon of liberty and open dialogue.
Thankfully we now have a promising ruling on the subject of the government demanding private social media companies censor content on their platforms. On Independence Day District Judge Terry A. Doughty granted an injunction effectively preventing multiple federal agencies and top officials from pressuring social media companies to remove or suppress content that contains protected free speech on their platforms. The injunction also prohibits these officials from flagging such content or influencing the companies’ content moderation guidelines.
It further restricts their involvement with entities like the Virality Project, previously known as the Election Integrity Partnership, and the Stanford Internet Observatory, which have been accused of exerting censorship pressure on social media platforms. The Stanford Internet Observatory in particular has repeatedly targeted Gab with this strategy in the past and we have stood our ground against their demands for censorship.
This preliminary injunction carries substantial implications for the First Amendment, signaling a potential disruption to the longstanding collaboration between governments and social media companies in censoring Americans’ speech. Judge Doughty’s order imposes constraints on executive agencies, including the Department of Justice, State Department, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
While the final ruling is still pending, Judge Doughty’s preliminary injunction suggests his inclination to favor the arguments presented by the plaintiffs. In his opinion, he stated that the evidence provided demonstrates a concerted effort by the defendants to suppress speech based on its content. Comparing the United States government’s actions to an Orwellian “Ministry of Truth” during the COVID-19 pandemic, Judge Doughty expressed his lack of persuasion by the defendants’ arguments.
The opinion also highlights the gravity of the case suggesting that if the allegations made by the plaintiffs are true this could be one of the most significant attacks on free speech in the history of the United States, as the federal government and the defendants are accused of flagrantly disregarding the First Amendment’s protection of free speech.
Judge Doughty’s order does permit certain exemptions, allowing communications related to national security threats, criminal activities, or voter suppression. The Biden administration has denied the claims of collusion in censoring Americans.
This lawsuit specifically targets the federal government’s role in content censorship on social media, in contrast to previous complaints that primarily focused on the actions of tech companies themselves. Moreover, the injunction extends beyond restraining government-technology company communications and also prevents collaboration between government agencies and academic groups dedicated to studying social media, including the Election Integrity Partnership.
As 2023 unfolds, it is becoming a significant year for free speech in the United States. The Supreme Court has issued several decisions that bear implications for free speech, including a recent ruling that established a higher threshold for punishing speech as a “true threat.”
Governments should not collude with tech companies to suppress protected speech. This ruling highlights the importance of platforms like Gab, which prioritize the preservation of free speech and offer an alternative to mainstream social media platforms that have faced criticism for their content moderation practices. At Gab we have been standing our ground against government censorship and pressure from outside academic groups for years. It’s great to finally have a ruling on the side of our actions and on the side of free speech.

Living in a Coup with Massive Election Rigging & War
Living in a Coup with Massive Election Rigging & War – Martin Armstrong
By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com
Legendary financial and geopolitical cycle analyst Martin Armstrong was forecasting “chaos” in 2023, and that’s exactly what we got. His cycle work says don’t look for it to get better anytime soon. Armstrong explains, “We are in the midst of a coup. We have all these people who have been neocons for 30 years. Even Ron Paul said recently that the neocons have been waging war for 30 years and have not won a one single one. This is what they live for. Look at the clip of Lindsey Graham saying this is the best money we ever spent killing Russians. How can you take pleasure in that statement that this is the best money we ever spent killing Russians. This is not defense. These are the words of a psychopath in my mind. . . . They are not about to accept anybody who is going to be against war. The neocons are in full control of the government—period. We are living in the time of a coup. The United States is not the free country you thought it was. . . .”
Armstrong also predicts that the neocons will rig the 2024 election so Biden (or some other neocon) gets a second term. Is there any way to stop this election rigging and fraud in 2024? Armstrong says, “I don’t believe so. Our computers show that holy hell breaks loose starting in 2025. I think the problem will be the cheating will be in everybody’s face this time.”
Armstrong also says the neocons will try to start a war before the 2024 election so Biden will win because a wartime president has never lost an election. Armstrong says the cheating will be necessary because the real poll numbers for Biden are in the single digits and not the 40% approval ratings the Lying Legacy Media tells you. Armstrong contends Biden’s approval number is still stuck at 9.5% with his deadly accurate Socrates computer program, but the big reason for Biden and his crew to worry is the real inflation number. Armstrong says, “Inflation is subsiding a little bit, but it is basically still over 26%.”
Armstrong says Biden’s approval numbers are so low and inflation is so high that they have to have war with Russia. War is the reason they had to remove Trump out of the White House because Trump was against constant war. Armstrong adds, “No way they are going to allow a free election. It you think the CIA cannot rig the vote, I don’t know what planet you live on.”
Don’t expect Fed Head Jay Powell to lower interest rates. It will be just the opposite. Armstrong explains, “What is Powell looking at? War is the number one cause of inflation. He can’t say because you people are dumping all this money into Ukraine, inflation is only going to go higher because then he is criticizing the government. So, he just says he’s looking at ‘international considerations.’ Look what the Vietnam war did. It broke the back of Bretton Woods. War is always the number one problem. The neocons only care about winning, and they do not care about the country. The do not care about your 401-k or your retirement. They could care less.”
In closing, Armstrong warns, “Russia is like a wild animal, and if it is cornered, it will attack.” This means the whole thing in Ukraine could go nuclear if Russia is pushed into a corner. And what about all that debt the western world has built up? Armstrong says, “They intend to default on all the sovereign debt. . . .I don’t see this succeeding. I think it’s all going to collapse. The reason why they are doing this is they realize they are losing power. They feel it slipping out of their fingers. The more that happens, the more they become aggressive. That’s what this is all about.”
