Dawn raids, rent arrears, previous convictions: Should new Tilbury Labour councillor stand down?

CALLS have been made for a new Tilbury Labour councillor to stand down, after a series of revelations highlighted a number of crisis in her life that some say hinder her ability to fulfill her duties as a councillor.
Mother of Ten, councillor Baldwin was elected in May after years of behind the scenes work for the Labour Party but soon after it was revealed that her council laptop “went missing”.
According to reports, cllr Baldwin had to pay a sum of money to get it back.
The theft was the culmination of a number of events that have now seen calls for her to stand down until events at home are more on an even keel.
It has been revealed that cllr Baldwin owes the council thousands in back rent. She also has massive council tax arrears.
Cllr Baldwin also faces serious problems in getting some of her children to school regularly. YT understands that educational welfare officers made a series of dawn raids to her property. Events culminated in her being charged and convicted under Section 444 (1) of the Education Act 1996, for failing to ensure that her child attends school regularly.
The loss of the laptop appears to have been the tipping point for many in the council as it sparked a security alert in civic offices with all councillors receiving instructions from council bosses on ensuring the safety and security of their laptops.
Keith Hatcher was the Independent candidate for Tilbury Riverside and Thurrock Park who came second to cllr Baldwin in Mays council elections. He said he is shocked by the revelations.
Mr Hatcher said: ‘There has to be a by-election. How can a councillor be in the chamber discussing what they do with taxpayers money when she infact owes thousands herself.
“I have every sympathy for Claire. Indeed, I blame her Labour bosses who must have known this would all come up.”
YT has asked a number of Labour sources including cllr Baldwin who sat on her selection panel but nobody could recall. HOW CONVENIENT!
Cllr Baldwin has issued a personal statement.
Cllr Baldwin said:  ”As many people will be aware I am a single mother with ten children. I have been a single parent for five years since my husband – the father of my children – left the family home.
“This time has been a terrible struggle for me and my family and I have fought to keep the family together and bring up my children to the very best of my ability. I have had support from friends and colleagues – without who we may not have survived in tact.
“I have, however, made some mistakes along the way. Mistakes I readily admit to and am working hard to put right.
“At times two of my children have not attended school regularly and I have paid the price for this having been convicted in court. Currently another of my children is causing me – and the authorities – concern over his attendance record. I am working with the authorities to ensure he is at school every day.
“I have also built up arrears in both my Council Tax and Council Housing Rent accounts. I am paying these arrears off in a way that satisfies the Council debt collection policies and have asked for no favours nor to be treated any differently to any other resident who finds themselves in arrears with Council Tax or Rent.
“I was proud to be elected to serve the residents of Tilbury Riverside and Thurrock Park and believe the experiences I have gone through have made me a stronger person and better equipped to understand and deal with the problems they bring to me on a daily basis.
‘I remain proud to represent the people of Tilbury and am absolutely committed to doing it to the very best of my ability.
Labour leader John Kent has defended the beleaguered councillor.
He said: Claire has ten children and gave careful consideration to how she would combine being a busy mother with council duties. As such Claire  ensures she gives around four hours a day to dealing with casework and council issues, ensuring she is finished in time for collecting the children from their various schools.
As a back bench councillor Claire’s duties are mainly around representing her constituents in Tilbury Riverside and Thurrock Park. Claire has shown real dedication to this role, holding regular advice surgeries and being seen about the ward on a daily basis. Claire deals with around twenty, separate items of case work every week.
Asked if she would be standing down, cllr Kent said: No. Claire was elected with a resounding majority and should be allowed to get on with the job she was elected to do – representing the residents of Tilbury Riverside and Thurrock Park.

Whilst attention has been focussed on the enthralling drama of the collapse of the Euro, in another corner of the European Union a genuine disaster for the real Europe - that of the people rather than the bureaucrats - continues to unfold.
The tide of illegal African immigrants entering Europe through the tiny Italian island of Lampedusa, rises ever higher.  And it is a tide of our own making because it has been raised by the short-sighted and confused interventions by major European Governments in the internal affairs of North African countries.

Since those Governments, notably Britain and France, incited revolt and insurrection across North Africa and the Arab world late last year, the resulting disorder has removed the strict controls formerly preventing any mass migration northward from the North African coast.
The result of this has been a mass influx, at first of over 50,000 Tunisians, and now tens of thousands more sub-Saharan Africans, shipped by people-smuggling gangsters in leaky and often unseaworthy boats to Europe, mainly via Lampedusa.

Over a thousand a day are landing at Lampedusa and the quiet, picturesque island has been transformed into an overcrowded refugee camp. Lampedusa is now full, so the Italian Government is fast-forwarding Africans landing in Lampedusa to the Italian mainland.

Once in Italy they have fanned out across Europe, triggering the collapse of another 'pillar of the European Union' - the Schengen Agreement which was brought in to allow free movement of people within the EU core area.  But now, first France, then Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark have quietly reintroduced border controls, all ignoring the hand-wringing expostulations from Brussels.

The French Government has even started paying the Tunisians arriving in their major cities to move on. Paris now offers every illegal Tunisian immigrant 300 Euros to go home. But as the authorities across Europe try to deal with the Tunisian influx, there's a new problem on the horizon.

The economy of Libya has been ruined by Anglo-French air strikes and the insurrection. The country no longer needs its hordes of Ghanaian, Nigerian and Somali guest workers who are leaving the country in their thousands and heading for... yes, you have guessed it - Lampedusa.

Evidence is growing that the Libyan Government has stopped preventing people-smugglers from shipping them to Lampedusa - which it used to do very efficiently before leading EU members attacked it - to actively encouraging sub-Saharan Africans now surplus to requirements to get on the boats. With European bombs whistling around his ears Libya's Colonel Gaddafi has warned that Europe will be flooded with illegal Immigrants.  Seeing this, understandably one may well think, as a way to fight back against completely unprovoked European aggression and interference in his country.  In the first quarter of last year, just 147 illegal immigrants tried to enter Italy. They were sent back.

The Bishop of Bradford, Nick Baines, has reached a new low in the already sorry saga of betrayal of our nation with his comments which amount to a welcoming of the ethnic cleansing of British people from our cities.

Speaking during the recently-held CoE General Synod in York, Rev Baines said some parishes in his diocese were 95 percent Muslim.

“This is a fantastic opportunity,” Rev Baines said. “This should not be seen as a problem” but an “opportunity to rethink what it means to be a Christian community.

“We often ask Muslims to learn what it is to be a Muslim as a minority culture. Maybe we could benefit from learning some of the same lessons in some of our cities,” Rev Baines said.

He went on to say that Christians have to “reimagine what it is to be the Church in areas where they are a minority.”

Earlier, other more sensible members of the Synod had warned that mass immigration was undermining the Church of England as the established faith of the nation.

Rev Baines went on to say that Christians should “learn some of the lessons they have been giving Muslims about cultural integration and mutual coexistence.”

The tragedy of Rev Baines’s comments is that he genuinely does not seem to understand the implications of the racial demographic shift which is underway.

A report issued by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life in December last year said that there were at least 2,869,000 Muslims in Britain, an increase of 74 per cent on its previous figure of 1,647,000, which was in turn based on the 2001 census.

This figure is most likely an underestimate, given the extremely poor border controls and lax immigration system encouraged and supported by Tories and Labour alike.

A report from Migration Watch UK in 2008 said that the real number of Muslims in the UK was closer to 3 million, which would be 5 percent of the UK population. That figure would have increased in the last four years, and it is now likely to be closer to 4 or more million.

According to official figures, the Muslim growth rate is the result of a combination of high birth rates (approximately 3.8 per female Muslim, as opposed to 1.3 per non-Muslim female) and immigration. The majority of immigrants have come from Pakistan, followed by Bangladesh and India.

A 2010 report in the online meat trading journal meatinfo.co.uk claimed that there are already six million halal meat eaters in Britain.

An article in that journal dealing with the decision by supermarket Tesco to launch a “halal barbeque range” to tap a “growing market” says that “the UK barbecue market has an estimated annual worth of £2.8 billion, with a calculated 6 million consumers of halal meat in the UK.”

Rev Baines has failed to realise — or perhaps he has — that mass immigration will see the extinction of his own kind and his faith. A culture is not, as Andrew Brons MEP once told the European Parliament, a cloak which is taken off and cast aside at the airport passport control desk.

Culture is something inherent in a person, and each society is only a reflection of the collective soul of the majority of its members. The replacement of the British people with a Third World immigrant population will inevitably lead to the replacement of the British culture.

Let all people of good faith pray that Rev Baines will soon see the error of his ways. Otherwise we might well experience the “cultural integration and mutual coexistence” as exemplified in the picture from Saudi Arabia as below.

Basicly the is a money supply that has no real value exept that put put faith in the paper notes or credits issued to purchase goods. Were as in the past all currency was backed by precious metals , by either the coins containing a certain amount of precious metal, or being able to trade the Notes for a certain amount of precious metal, as is quite obvious that the pound sterling was once the equivalent of 1lb of solid 925 grade sterling silver. And that the American dollar was equivalent to a certain amount of precious metal, and still should be as the law governing it's precious metal content has never been repealed.

And this is why the ruling elites fear we in the British National party so much as we wish to make our currency have a real value and not be money created from nothing! just see our economic policies That are designed to provide long term economic and social stability!

According to a recent OECD report ‘2011 International Migration Outlook’ the UK receives the highest amount of immigration in Europe and amongst 25 top nations world-wide it is only surpassed by the USA.

In 2009, Britain received 397,000 legal immigrants and the USA 1.1 million. However, the USA population is 311 million, but the UK has only one fifth this amount at 62 million. Therefore we are the world’s most immigration-affected country per head of population. And this does not include the ever growing number of illegal immigrants and their drain upon the nation’s economy.

Figures supplied from an American source indicate that the many services that are supplied to illegal immigrants in the USA comes to $338.3 billion dollars, which is approximately £220 billion pounds. The illegal immigrant population is officially put at 12 million, but a Bear Stearns report say it could be as high as 20 million.

In Britain a London School of Economics report in March 2009 said the illegal immigrant total could be around 1 million. Others believe it to be higher, particularly if descendants are included. Using the official illegal population figures for both countries and the U.S. total cost of services used by illegals we can assume that the cost to British taxpayers brought about by our illegal immigrants must be at least £18 billion – £18,000,000,000 – a year. This does not include the costs incurred by unemployed legal immigrants and their descendants.

This is more than twice the £7 billion welfare cuts that the Chancellor George Osborne has introduced since last October.

If it wasn’t for the lack of immigration control by past Labour and Conservative governments and the present Coalition – despite its hypocritical claims to be tackling the problem, there would be no need for the cuts in our NHS service, increasing students university fees, reducing local council services, clipping pensioners winter fuel allowances, slashing child benefit allowances, or even having to put up VAT to 20%. Unemployment would have been well below two million by now.

From £18 billion we could have even afforded to keep our Armed Forces at their past strength (for use in UK interests only) and keep the Ark Royal aircraft carrier and its Harriers until the new carriers are ready. In fact, we would be quite a well off nation.

It should be noted that our trade competitors in Asia, such as Japan, India and certainly China have no records of having illegal immigrants and very, very few legal ones

Following is the breakdown of the U.S. figures on costs incurred through services to their illegal immigrants and from which we have calculated UK costs. Importantly, they contain the source reference to verify each given cost.

The Costs to the USA of Illegal Immigration

1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by individual American state governments.

2. $22 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, etc, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid (US equivalent of NHS services) for illegals.

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

5. $17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal immigrants, known as anchor babies.

6. $3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal immigrants.

8. $90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

9. $200 Billion dollars a year in estimated suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

10. In 2006, illegals sent home $45 BILLION in remittances to their countries of origin.

11. The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One million sex crimes committed by Illegal Immigrants in the United States.

The total cost is a whopping $338.3 billion dollars, ($338,300,000,000) which would be enough to stimulate the economy for the citizens of the United States.

The United Kingdom is subjected to the highest amount of permanent immigration in Europe, and the second highest of any country in the world, only surpassed by the United States, according to new figures.
The OECD's 2011 International Migration Outlook report said that the UK took in 397,900 ‘permanent migrants’ in 2009, more than European neighbours Italy, Spain, Germany and France, and more even than huge landmasses like Canada, Australia and Russia.
The report ranked the immigration rates of 25 of the majority of the world’s leading countries by the number of permanent immigrants taken in each year, and only the USA had a higher total in 2009, of 1.1 million.
Additionally, the UK also showed the second-highest increase in the number of immigrants on the previous year, a 14.5 per cent leap from 2008 to 2009. The only country with a higher rise was Mexico.
The results are even more glaring when taking into account the fact that international migration worldwide actually fell in 2009, with immigration rates down in the majority of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries in that year. (OECD countries comprise 34 of the world’s richest and most influential states, barring China, India and Russia.)
The main exporter of immigrants to OECD countries was China, with 468,000 nationals emigrating. It was followed by Romania (255,000), which had by far the highest number of emigrants per million of the population, India (226,000), Poland (226,000) and Mexico (180,000).
The UK had the eighth-highest number of emigrants, evidencing the hurtling demographic change taking place in Britain today.
The highest percentage increases of emigrants to OECD countries were from Iraq, which saw a 22 per cent rise in emigrants, followed by the Dominican Republic, with 21 per cent.
Of course, the number of ‘permanent immigrants’ is well below the actual immigration figure, which for the last recorded year was 586,000, a number which itself excludes tens of thousands of ‘temporary’ workers who allegedly do not stay in Britain more than one year.
Only the British National Party will stop the immigrant invasion to which our fair land is currently subjected. If you want Britain to remain British, you must get involved with the British National Party now, before there is no country left to save.

Few people understand how much the wonderful principles of civil liberty and free enterprise originated with God and are taught in the Bible!

Freedom—Liberty—How sweet the sound! From the beginning of time, humanity has been "yearning to breathe free."
The greatest freedoms are spiritual, but physical, civil and economic freedoms are also important. They often overlap.
Freedom is a major theme in the Bible. In fact, the Bible has inspired people down through the ages to seek freedom for
themselves and others.
However, many people tend to take their freedoms for granted and undervalue them. They don't understand how much God wants us to cherish and protect them.
Many hold misunderstandings about the Bible. Wasn't the God of the Old Testament a severely controlling dictator? Weren't His laws a "yoke of bondage"? Weren't the Israelites poor nomads who had no personal property?
To those questions, the answer is no. God's way is that of liberty, including free exchange of goods and services, within law.

Are human beings born free?

"God created man in His own image" (Genesis:1:27). This made man vastly superior to all the other creatures!
God said mankind was to "be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion [rule or stewardship]" over all the other creatures (verse 28). And God told Adam "to tend and keep" the Garden of Eden, implying that his descendants should tend and keep the planet (Genesis:2:15).
Notice what God did not say: He did not specify innumerable details about how they should do it (although He clearly holds us accountable to obey His laws that are to govern our actions).
This immediately shows God's confidence in the abilities of human beings in general to learn—from their own experience and the experience of others—how to manage their occupations without rigid control by some central government.
Human beings are born free because we have been given amazing minds with which to think, learn, speak, imagine, make decisions, set goals, develop tools, invent, be entrepreneurs, be creative and artistic, develop personality, love and worship. (Other physical creatures, however, are not born free—they are ruled mainly by their instincts.)
Human government can restrict your freedom, but it can't give you freedoms because you already have them.
Freedom of choice is clearly taught in the Bible. God defines good and evil and announces rewards and punishments according to our behavior. But God leaves people free to choose between the options (Deuteronomy:30:19).

Do laws provide freedom or deprive people of freedom?

When man's laws are overly complex, overly restrictive and excessive in number, they largely deprive people of precious freedom. However, God's laws, which are perfect and few in number, provide for maximum liberty overall.
God, of course, does not grant absolute freedom, which would mean anarchy and license to do evil! Laws are needed to constrain people from intruding on the freedoms of others.
So the Ten Commandments are the opposite of a "yoke of bondage"! James calls them the perfect "law of liberty" (James:1:25; 2:12, emphasis added throughout).
The Ten Commandments have been criticized for sounding negative—most saying, "You shall not . . ." But that kind of law is exactly what a nation needs—laws that restrain evil and harm to others but don't restrict free enterprise and honest business!
Free enterprise is also called private enterprise. Here's a brief dictionary definition: "Business activities unregulated by state ownership or control." It is the opposite of socialism. Today, many nations have "mixed" economies—partly free enterprise and partly socialistic.
Perhaps the most famous exponent in the 20th century of free-market economics was the Austrian-American genius Ludwig von Mises (1881-1973), author of a monumental work titled Human Action: A Treatise on Economics.
Probably the best recently published book about the science of economics is by Dr. Shawn Ritenour, an adjunct professor with the Ludwig von Mises Institute. In his 545-page book Foundations of Economics: A Christian View (2010), he explains how the many laws of economics are based on the teachings of the Bible. Two excellent shorter books are Biblical Economics by R.C. Sproul, Jr. (2008) and Money, Greed, and God by Jay Richards (2009).

Scripture teaches the importance of private property

God, of course, owns the world (Psalm:50:12). But Psalm:115:16 tells us, "The earth He has given to the children of men." This implies God's desire for each family to "own" a piece of property—essentially a long-term lease of God's property.
The protection of the Eighth Commandment—"You shall not steal"—shows the importance God places on private property. The Tenth Commandment—"You shall not covet"—tells us to not even think about stealing (Exodus:20:15, 17).
Stealing, of course, takes many forms. God's Word mandates that all measurements and standards remain accurate, consistent and unchanging to prevent the cheating of customers (Leviticus:19:35-36). It forbids cheating or defrauding others (verse 13). It prohibits moving markers that define the boundaries of one's land and lying in any matter of law (Deuteronomy:19:14-20).
All of these, and many other laws, were designed to protect the people and their property.
Just think: If a person has at least a small piece of land that is debt-free and tax-free, he can at least put up a tent, plant a garden and get by with relatively little income. It may also provide an opportunity for a profitable farm or cottage industry.
A beautiful prophecy about life on earth after Christ returns is that "everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid" (Micah:4:4). When it's "his vine" and "his fig tree," that means they are on his land!

Material wealth and Jesus' promotion of investment

The Bible does not say that "money is the root of all evil," as some assume. It says, "The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil" (1 Timothy:6:10). We must love God and spiritual riches far more than physical riches.
The Bible warns against the two opposite evils of materialism and asceticism. The apostle Paul wrote that God "gives us richly all things to enjoy" (1 Timothy:6:17).
We are certainly to focus on helping others. But earning money and building wealth for ourselves puts us in a position to be of help to others—rather than burdening others with our need (though some must rely on others' generosity of course). A number of godly men in the Bible were wealthy (such as Abraham, Job and David), but they put God ahead of their wealth.
Many of Jesus' parables were stories about money and business transactions. Although His main point was always spiritual, He would not have been using financial transactions as illustrations if they were inherently evil.
For example, in the parable of the talents (Matthew:25:14-30) and in the parable of the minas (Luke:19:12-27), the master expected his servants to use his money to generate a profit without telling them how or where to invest it (except that, at the end, he said that those who produced no profit should have at least deposited his money in the bank to earn interest). The servants who invested and produced a profit are praised and rewarded by the master.
The Bible praises initiative, diligence and the work ethic as wise efforts to "bear fruit" and prosper (Proverbs:10:4; 12:24; 13:4; 18:9; 21:5; 22:29; 24:27). And if our faith is in God rather than in ourselves, God will make sure our needs are provided (Matthew:6:33).

A bum rap for capitalism

But haven't we heard bad things about "capitalism"? Capitalism, which is largely synonymous with free enterprise and free exchange, has been unfairly criticized. "Capital" refers to money, property, tools and other assets. And capitalism simply means the use of capital to produce goods or services that are "in demand," meaning things that are needed or desired by others. The scriptures cited above clearly support the idea of capitalism.
Many of the problems associated with so-called capitalist economies are not due to free enterprise but to criminal activity and government interference in markets (so that they are not truly free markets). Backroom dealing between certain corporations and government regulators is such an example.
Historically and generally, the fruit of free enterprise has been prosperity while the fruit of socialism (and communism) has been poverty and misery. Nevertheless, there continue to be dreamers (often with good intentions) who naively think their new variations of socialism will work wonderfully.
Yet socialism is based on the false premise that there is a fixed amount of wealth that must be redistributed for everyone to get an equitable share or "piece of the pie." This redistribution requires coerced taking from those with a bigger piece, which is in fact theft. Capitalism, on the other hand, provides a godly solution. Rather than redividing the pie, we can make more pies!
Indeed, free enterprise is the only system that allows more wealth to be generated rather than just moving around what people presently possess.
And free enterprise promotes liberty, being largely based on the principle of laissez-faire, French for "Let (people) do (as they choose)." Laizzez-faire, sometimes paraphrased as "hands off," was first clearly explained and advocated by the Scottish economist Adam Smith (1723-1790) in his great work The Wealth of Nations, published in 1776.
He described how free societies run smoothly without government controls as if an "invisible hand" is guiding them. This is the most efficient economic model for meeting people's wants and needs. Smith is considered "the prophet of free enterprise," but the main principles he encouraged have been in the Bible all along. (Regarding a common misconception, see "The Early Church Was Not Communist—and Neither Was Jesus".)

What is the proper role for civil governments?

Paul wrote that God has ordained civil government to prevent and punish "evil" (Romans:13:1-4). Peter wrote that civil "governors . . . are sent by [God] for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good" (1 Peter:2:14).
The powers of federal, state and local governments should largely be limited to protecting the three great natural rights—life, liberty and property—from threats from within (crime) and from threats from without (invasion). In addition, it should protect the people from the government itself.
The word "republic" implies not only a representative form of government, but one that deals with public affairs as opposed to manipulating and micromanaging private affairs. It should not be the business of government to involve itself in private business unless that business is causing harm to others.

Consider the freedoms enjoyed in God's nation of Israel

For a long while after its establishment, the new nation of Israel was a theocracy with God as its King (compare 1 Samuel:12:12). In the Promised Land the people enjoyed the most personal liberties of any nation in the history of the world.
God gave His nation a marvelous start! Moses told them that God had promised "to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant" (Deuteronomy:6:10-11). Essentially, they received an inheritance that was all debt-free and tax-free!
As long as the people of Israel looked to God as their King, the laws didn't change. But when Samuel was the prophet and judge in Israel, the people began to insist on a human ruler "to judge us like the [other] nations" (1 Samuel:8:5).
Eventually God let them learn some lessons the hard way. He told Samuel to "heed their voice," but also to "solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them" (1 Samuel:8:9). So Samuel forewarned them that they would see their young men and women drafted into military and government service and that they would see government confiscation of property, high taxes and other losses of their liberties (verses 10-18).
What God prophesied came to pass—over and over. As God warned, "You will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day" (verse 18). What an appropriate description of our day as well!

A surprising key to the American success story

Henry Grady Weaver wrote a fascinating history and analysis of freedom and its benefits titled The Mainspring of Human Progress (1947).
Weaver described the greatest "revolution against pagan fatalism, the revolution for human freedom"—the birth of the United States. For nearly 6,000 years, progress in science and people's standard of living proceeded very slowly. Then once the American colonies became the "land of the free," there was an immediate outburst of human energy and innovation followed by prosperity.
The success of the American experiment has inspired many other nations to learn and apply valuable lessons.
What did the motley colonists have in common that unified and energized them?
It was not formal education. It was the fact that a large percentage of them were readers, and they mostly were reading the same books, including books about history and economics!
Some of the popular books were by English philosopher John Locke (1632-1704), French scholar Baron Charles de Montesquieu (1689-1755), French writer Voltaire (1694-1778), Geneva-born writer Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), and English judge and professor Sir William Blackstone. Most of these Enlightenment thinkers were strong proponents of the Christian religion.
However, the most popular book by far was the Bible. In fact, the main reason they were highly motivated to learn to read and to teach their children to read was so they could read the Good Book!
The widespread self-education in noble books with great ideas, especially the Bible, explains why most of the colonists were people of principle and high moral character. They knew that, to a great extent, you become what you read.
The American colonists were in many respects a powerful illustration of Jesus' statement, "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John:8:32).
The Bible makes it clear that God deserves all the credit for making America "a great nation" (Genesis:12:2). But some of the ideas and ideologies that God inspired in the American colonists contributed to the achievement of that greatness.

True economic freedom is yet to come

Of course, for all its greatness, the United States has periodically suffered economic woes—and matters have grown far worse as the government has grown in power. Much of what is represented as free enterprise really isn't.
Governments frequently offer financial favors, but with strings attached. With every government handout (money from taxes, or the cruel and hidden tax of monetary inflation) comes more regulations and restrictions of civil liberties.
Democracies usually eventually destroy themselves because voters are seduced by promises of short-range benefits paid for by someone else. They sacrifice liberties for perks and promises of security. They vote for the political candidates who promise them the most, with the result that government spending and taxes increase, sapping the productivity of the economy and weakening the nation until it falls to forces without or collapses from decay within.
Sadly, we read in the headlines of this erosion of economic vitality and liberty taking place now in the United States and other democratic nations.
As we've seen, the Bible indeed teaches free enterprise. But the fact is that the world has never seen free enterprise at its very best. That will happen only after Jesus Christ returns! He will give the world ideal economics combined with godly ethics. The results will be spectacular—liberty, peace and prosperity throughout the world!
The people and their children and all their descendants will enjoy every kind of wonderful blessing—as indicated in the following passage:
"They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for as the days of a tree [many days!], so shall be the days of My people, and My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth children for trouble; for they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them" (Isaiah:65:21-23).
The Bible makes it clear that free enterprise is the best economic system. When people combine free enterprise with faith in God and obedience to His spiritual laws, they not only survive, they thrive.

Now they have landed on a big snake.  Yesterday, top ratings agency Standard & Poor’s – as we predicted – officially confirmed that the sundry finagles and wangles Brussels and Paris have cooked up to fudge Greece missing payments due on its debts, cut no ice with them.

If the Greeks don't meet the original due date and amount for any repayment to one of the numerous big Euro banks to which they owe huge sums of money, that debt will be declared by S&P as 'in default'.  Other top global ratings agencies are almost certain to follow suit.
This means that any such debts automatically legally turn from an asset to a liability on the affected bank’s books.  So great are the amounts involved that for a number of big banks, notably in France and Germany, that would transform them, at the stroke of a pen, from solvent to insolvent. They then must either cease trading or, as in 2008, be bailed out by their hoist country’s taxpayers, causing another Bankers’ Slump in the only parts of the Eurozone not already in economic meltdown.
Not surprisingly, the markets greeted the news by downgrading the affected banks’ share prices - in France Credit Agricole and Societe Generale fell about 2%, while in Germany Commerzbank slipped 1.7%.  British-based banks are not immune either – Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds shares fell 2.3%, reflecting their exposure to Greek debt and the danger that British taxpayers will be sucked into the Eurozone black hole.
This all means that the latest £10.4 billion bailout loans the Greeks got last weekend in return for doing as they are told will not be enough.  The only way now to avoid a Greek default and a string of bank collapses would be if the European Central Bank – the Bank of the Euro – took on the burden of the debt.
This won’t happen as the actual cost would fall ruinously on the German taxpayer, who would revenge themselves savagely at the polls on the current German Government whose Chancellor Angela Merkel has made it very clear that she will not lay down her political life for the Euro.
This enthralling drama continues apace . .

The collapse of the Euro came still another step nearer on Thursday of last week when the European Central Bank raised interest rates by 0.25%, its second such rise this year.
The rise helps the German and other Northern European Eurozone economies by preventing 'overheating' but it will strike a further blow to the already suffering Southern European eurozone economies such as Greece, Portugal, Spain and Italy, by pushing them nearer to defaulting on their colossal debts.

As the British National Party has repeatedly pointed out over the past five years, the Euro is an economic impossibility. That's because a single currency can only possibly work in a single economy with a single fiscal and monetary policy - and all that needs a single government!

Different economies trapped in a single currency have different, in fact now diametrically opposite, fiscal and monetary needs. Germany which has a growing economy, with manufacturing orders rising another 1.8% in June, needs a higher interest rate to curb inflation.
Greece and Portugal, on the other hand, with economies which are contracting, need lower interest rates to stimulate demand and investment and get things moving again.  The only way some sort of common currency can work is if more power is given to a single governing body.

The Old Euro is failing because one currency can't work for 17 still basically independent nations. For a New Euro to prosper, such independence must be brought to an end. There would have to be central European Union control of every aspect of economic policy throughout the Eurozone.

Brussels would have to impose taxes, determine public spending, and make laws on and exert complete control over every aspect of economic or fiscal matters, for all the countries signing up to the new Euro.

The growing support for nationalist parties in every country in the EU shows that the European peoples will not accept the loss of their independence without a fight. Like the USSR and its Empire in 1989, the European Union is now approaching its final crisis - the clash between political elites lusting for transnational power and ordinary people seeking to win back their freedom.

In a report in last Friday’s Independent newspaper on the exploding population growth in the UK, the paper published an ‘expert’ analysis by their Economics Editor Sean O’Grady to soften the appalling statistics.
After reporting the shocking population growth of nearly half a million people last year alone in our tiny island, the article stated that the UK population is growing at its fastest rate for half a century and went on to add that there are 200,000 more women of child-bearing age in Britain than ten years ago, many of whom were born abroad and who tend to have larger families than British women of child-bearing age.
While carefully publishing select figures that they deemed suitable for public knowledge in order to mask the number of those half a million people who were new immigrants to our country in that year and how many of the 134,000 more births last year than in 2001 were to immigrants and non-indigenous people, the Independent backed up their version of this news with O’Grady’s ‘expert’ economic analysis titled ‘The more people who come to the UK, the better it is for us all’.
Ignoring the fact that we have many unemployed people here who cannot find work because the jobs don’t exist, O’Grady seeks to use the expert status that his position as Economics Editor implies to brainwash readers into blindly accepting his ideologically perverted opinion as unarguable fact.
Shockingly for someone who writes for a supposedly liberal newspaper, O’Grady makes the offensive claim that without illegal immigrants working as cleaners, hotel staff and taxi drivers, London’s thriving tourist trade would collapse.
Ignoring any suspicions that a reader may have on the implications of such a comment, that O’Grady is either suggesting that the indigenous British people are now incapable of doing such work or that the jobs are so menial that only illegal immigrants will do them, O’Grady appears to be quite comfortable with the idea of accepting illegal immigrants in our country and working in British jobs as long as an industry profits from the situation.
So perverted has the Liberal ideology become that a supposedly respectable national newspaper like The Independent can publish the suggestion that we support immoral criminal behaviour by encouraging illegal immigrants to enter our country with the tacit understanding that they will work for unlawful wages which, with the high costs of living in our capital city, amount to slave labour. Slave labourers who need to live in garden sheds in our capital city to provide for the profitability of industry and the associated gang masters who profit from their misery. A surprising thought from a supposedly Liberal national newspaper which always seeks to hold the moral high ground.
While most of The Independent’s readers will assume that O’Grady makes such claims because of low wages paid to illegal immigrants, therefore keeping costs low which would aid the profitability of the tourist industry, his argument is disingenuous because surely as an Economics Editor he is aware of the enormous hidden costs to the tax payer of such low-paid illegal immigrants?
Further, O’Grady’s suggestion that we ‘need’ the labour of illegal immigrants to make an industry viable has dangerous implications for the future. With the spiralling costs of all public services caused by the influx of immigrants, legal and illegal, how long before people with O’Grady’s morally flawed political viewpoint suggest that we need illegal immigrants to staff our hospitals and schools and other services?
How long before it is acceptable to O’Grady that we have unchecked illegal immigrants working as doctors and surgeons in our hospitals, as teachers in our schools, as MPs in Westminster and even as Economics Editors employed by national newspapers?
Having been sucked into the Liberal/Marxist ideology, O’Grady is unable to acknowledge or even recognise that the flawed and immoral policies of the traitors whom he and his readership have supported – and still support – are now logically leading to the ‘need’ for further immoral steps, such as the tacit approval of the employment of criminal illegal immigrants in order to keep the whole system working, and reveal the brainwashing of supposedly intelligent people like O’Grady who are hailed as experts in their fields, when their only expertise is their ability to slant reality to suit their ideological views with the result that bad becomes good and good becomes bad.
Experts such as this, who choose to ignore the uncomfortable facts which reveal the enormous flaws inherent in their ideology and who promote their own version of reality by manipulating facts and ultimately applauding immoral and illegal activities.
Furthermore, that O’Grady appears to support the employment of illegal immigrants in an industry where genuine overseas visitors will be exposed and put at risk by them is criminally irresponsible. Genuine visitors from overseas who have already been scammed by the British authorities because they were sold the premise that they were visiting Britain and are shocked to discover upon their arrival here that, due to mass immigration, there is little evidence of being in Britain, O’Grady seems to suggest that it is acceptable to have these visitors exposed to the dangers of being driven by unlicensed and uninsured illegal immigrant taxi drivers and that it is acceptable for them to be exposed to illegal immigrant cleaners and hotel staff who, because of their situation, may be tempted to steal.
Such is the thoughtless and selfish ‘morality’ of the liberal supporters of Marxism.
In the same ‘expert’ analysis, while paying scant acknowledgement to the social and financial damage caused to our country by the Lib/Lab/Con policies of mass immigration, which O’Grady glosses over as a minor problem, he tries to justify these policies by spouting the same old lies that have long been exposed as such.
Using the argument that these immigrants will pay for our pensions when Gordon Brown destroyed the private pensions of millions just to finance the policy of mass immigration is surely such an outdated argument that anyone using it loses all credibility. Yet this financial ‘expert’ expects his readers to accept it blindly as truth.
That O’Grady can even suggest that immigrants will pay our pensions at a time like this when public sector employees are seeing cuts to theirs and the rest of us will suffer a poverty-stricken retirement – if we get to retire at all – is beyond belief.
Following on in his ‘expert’ analysis of why we need mass immigration, O’Grady argues that these immigrants ‘rejuvenate’ our population as they are young, flexible, enterprising, able to work and determined to build a new life in our country.
However, he doesn’t address the reasons why he thinks that native Britons cannot be attributed with the same merits and doesn’t appear to realise that his assertions favouring immigrants could be construed as racist.
He also doesn’t make clear why immigrants to this country should have these gifts when they were apparently unable to produce such rejuvenating results in their countries of origin.
While O’Grady’s opinion is that we supposedly ‘need’ millions of immigrants to address the demographic imbalance in our native population, ignoring the reasons for that imbalance is dishonest. O’Grady surely knows that the criminal and irresponsible abuse of the Welfare system allowed and encouraged by the Lib/Lab/Con politicians which made ordinary British workers pay unaffordable amounts in taxation to support lazy and feckless people led to the situation where those tax paying workers could not afford to have children of their own or had to severely limit the size of their families?
He must also be aware that the same easily abused Welfare system has led to the death of enterprise and determination among the young of the indigenous population, who see the comfortable lives of those on benefits as an easy path to follow. Taking into account the dismal education of our children caused by the policies of the Lib/Lab/Con politicians, where they are not equipped with the knowledge needed to lead successful lives in our economy, his lauding of immigrants’ abilities and enterprise is difficult to swallow.
Especially when the children of such immigrants will receive the same dismal education and will also be exposed to the same corrupting influences of our easily abused welfare system.
The real question raised by O’Grady’s expert economics analysis – one that he doesn’t answer – is when he declares that the more people who come to the UK, the better it will be for us all.
Just how many immigrants does this ‘expert’ O’Grady think it will take to make it better for us all?
Will it be ‘better’ when we have a population of 100 million? 200 million? Perhaps 500 million will satisfy the so-called Liberal elite like O’Grady?
Can he possibly explain why he believes that mass immigration is ‘better for us all’ when, after the importation of more immigrants into our country in the last 65 years than ever before in our history, we are a financially bankrupt nation?
It is the duty of the British National Party – a duty that we do not shrink from – to expose the flaws and deep immorality of the ideologies that so-called experts like O’Grady attempt to promote as the only answer to Britain’s problems, when it is those same ideologies that have caused them.

America currently has a massive $14.3 trillion of public debt and is in the midst of a political struggle that could send shockwaves around the world.
In order for America not to default on payments to maintain its levels of debt, congress needs to arrange a plan to increase the limit that America is allowed to borrow. Under current legislation, America is allowed to borrow as much as it likes but sets parameters as safeguards.
However, due to the current financial situation, America has found that it will need to borrow above and beyond those self-inflicted limits aptly named the 'debt ceiling'.
This, of course, causes a problem: Republicans and Democrats are divided as to whether to vote in favour of raising these limits. If an agreement isn't met soon, we could see America begin to default on its payments by as early as August 2nd this year.
What would that mean to citizens in America and around the world? We could see America facing some tough decisions on where its money is spent: welfare payments, defence costs, state pensions and education could all be hit. This would mark the first time in history that the world’s wealthiest nation was unable to pay its debts.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has made a statement saying, "If no agreement could be reached, there could be a severe shock to the economy and to world financial markets." There is also a risk that America’s debt could be downgraded from its current triple-A status, which would cause huge ramifications for anyone holding these investments.
The actual chances of a default are slim. President Obama has cut short a week-long Independence Day break for congress so that they can debate the issue, with many expecting an eleventh-hour deal to be reached. However, it is very worrying that America has found itself in this position, and it is a harsh wakeup call of what the future may hold.

The BBC’s director general has admitted that the corporation has avoided speaking about the problems of ‘taboo’ subjects such as immigration.
Mark Thompson said ‘sensitive and difficult issues’ like immigration were ignored because the broadcaster was ‘anxious’ about appearing to have a right-wing agenda.
In an article for the New Statesman magazine, he admitted: ‘There have been occasions, I believe, in the past, when the BBC has had limitations.
‘For example, I think there were some years when the BBC, like the rest of the UK media, was very reticent about talking about immigration.
‘There was an anxiety whether or not you might be playing into a political agenda if you did items about immigration.’
He went on to justify the BBC’s behaviour by saying that in the 2010 election campaign, ‘none of the parties was talking about immigration’, despite the fact that immigration was one of the main issues of the election, with the LibLabCon party making continual transparent promises on the issue to try and steal votes from the British National Party.
The less-than-shocking announcement is just the latest in a series of admissions of anti-British bias by the corporation.
- In 2006, a leaked report from a BBC ‘impartiality seminar’ found that BBC executives would broadcast a Bible being thrown into a bin, but not a Koran.
- In the same report, the station’s political editor Andrew Marr said, ‘The BBC is not impartial or neutral. It's a publicly funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities and gay people. It has a liberal bias not so much a party-political bias. It is better expressed as a cultural liberal bias.’
- Former BBC business editor Jeff Randall was quoted in the report as saying he complained to a 'very senior news executive' about the BBC's pro-multicultural stance but was given the reply, 'The BBC is not neutral in multiculturalism: it believes in it and it promotes it.'
- In 2007, a BBC Trust report criticised the corporation for coming late to several important stories, including Euroscepticism and immigration, which it described as ‘off limits’ in terms of a liberal-minded comfort zone.
- In 2010, again speaking to the left-wing New Statesman, Mark Thompson accepted that the BBC had been guilty of a ‘massive bias to the left’ and ‘struggled with impartiality’.
- In January 2011, ex-BBC newsreader Peter Sissons went further by stating that left-wing bias was written in the corporation’s very DNA.
Mark Thompson has been the BBC’s director general since 2004, taking over from Greg Dyke, who infamously bemoaned the company for being ‘hideously white’.
In the interview, Mr Thompson also defended the large numbers of journalists the BBC sends to events such as Glastonbury and the Olympics. The BBC was criticised last month for sending 407 people to the Glastonbury festival – at a cost of £1.5 million.
