Tories Appoint First Muslim Party Chairman
The Conservative Party has taken a giant leap forward in its plans to complete the Islamification of Britain with the appointment of Pakistani-origin Sayeeda Hussain Warsi as their new chairman.Ms Warsi has replaced ‘former’ Communist Party member Eric Pickles (who has been appointed to the cabinet post of Communities Secretary under Mr Cameron) to become the most senior figure within the Tory party structure.
The move is widely seen as yet another Conservative sop to the growing Muslim population of Britain and complements the creation of the Conservative Muslim Forum (CMF) which is the officially-endorsed Islamic section of that party.
According to the CMF website, that body believes that the “Conservative Party's values and policies reflect the values and beliefs of the Muslim community in the United Kingdom” and then goes on to add: “Unfortunately, there are many Muslims who live in deprived areas, the unemployment rate amongst Muslims is 15%, there is general underachievement of Muslim children in school, the health of Muslims in [sic] below average and there is a lack of interaction in certain areas.”
Ms Warsi has been unable to win a seat and Tory leader David Cameron was ‘forced’ to nominate her to the House of Lords to enable her to sit in Parliament.
She has also served as a special adviser to Michael Howard on Community Relations and was earlier appointed by Mr Cameron as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party with specific responsibility for cities.
In its December 2006 edition, the New Statesman magazine revealed that Ms Warsi had received support from the Muslim Labour Peer ‘Lord’ Ahmed during her unsuccessful failed election bid in Dewsbury during the the 2005 general election.
According to the New Statesman's report, Ms Warsi "welcomed Lord Ahmed's support."
Ms Warsi is also expected to take on a junior ministerial role in the new Tory/Lib Dem cabinet.
* The Muslim population in Britain has grown by more than 500,000 to 2.4 million in just four years, according to official research published in January 2009.
The Muslim population multiplied 10 times faster than the rest of society, the research by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed.
In September 2009, ONS figures also revealed that Mohammed is now the most common name for baby boys born in London and three other English regions.
When various spellings of the Islamic prophet are added together -- including Muhammad, Mohammad, Mohamed and Muhammed -- the name is now more than twice as popular in London as the capital's second-ranked boys’ name, Daniel. There were 1,828 baby boys given the name Mohammed, including variants, in 2008, compared with only 844 who were called Daniel.
London is not the first European capital to see Mohammed become the number one name for baby boys. In Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Oslo the name has already gained the top slot.
