Russian spy Chapman stripped of British citizenship yet Suspected Islamic Terrorist Welcomed Hypocrisy
The British government has stripped Russian spy Anna Chapman of her British citizenship and revoked her passport, citing her guilty plea in U.S federal court for conspiring to violate the Foreign Agent Registration statute.
Chapman's New York lawyer, Robert M. Baum, said he received notification earlier today from the British Home Secretary. The letter said the decision was taken based on information "that could not be made public based on interests of national security," Baum said.
He sent the notice to Chapman in Moscow with the advice that she contact a lawyer in London if she wants to appeal the British decision. Chapman gained British citizenship through her marriage in 2002 to Alex Chapman a British businessman she met four months earlier. They were divorced four years later.
Before leaving the U.S. in the spy swap last Friday, the 28-year-old had told Baum she might want to relocate to London.
